My little fish
On Carter's last day of swim lessons I decided to take pictures of this little fish of mine and I ended up turning it into a post. Carter had one previous year of mom and me lessons when I was prego with Lincoln (at 21-22 months old) and haven't done formal lessons with him since. He actually remembered quite a bit from his mom and me lessons and last year I just worked with him on my own. He is NOT afraid of water whatsoever and will jump into the deepest water no questions asked. It can be kind of scarey sometimes. I decided to put him into level 2 swim lessons and just skip level 1 because I thought he could probably pull it off. Sure enough, he did. The teacher never even questioned me moving him up. He did awesome and learned how to float on his back and roll, swim the breaststroke, tread water, and several other things. I'm going to continue to work with him on my own the rest of the summer so he'll be ready for next years lessons and maybe somewhere down the line I can put him on swim team if that's something he wants to do.

Vegas trip May 2010
Well, these are better late than never pics from our visit to Las Vegas back in mid May. We had a lot of fun and took the kids to see and do lots of fun stuff. I didn't realize until I started researching it that there is a lot of stuff for kids in Vegas
The Mermaid show at the Silverton Hotel. Lincoln fell in love with this mermaid

My 1st 5K
Pre race dinner: Aiona, Jill, & me
So I ran my first 5K after much anticipation and did pretty well for a 1st timer. I have never run distance races before (just the 100, 200, & 4x100 relay in high school) and decided it was time for me to push myself and set some new goals. I had pretty much hit my limit at the classes at the gym and I needed something to push me harder so I started thinking about doing the 5K. After talking with my friend, Jill, we decided to run a 5K together. We trained together here and there between out crazy schedules with our families and on our own. I had so much fun doing this and am so happy to have such a great friend like Jill who has pushed me on and inspired me to do even better than I thought I could. We have set some goals for the future which include doing more 5K's, a 10K, a 1/2 marathon, and eventually a marathon. I am so excited to train for all of this and eventually reach all my goals. We were lucky enough to have our friend, Aiona, join us at the race and run with us. We used to all work together at Nordy's and had so much fun running together. I did a prerun dinner the night before at my house where we indulged in 2 different kids of pastas, wonderful Italian salad made by Jill, Aiona's garlic bread, and Jill's delicious strawberry shortcake. It's so nice to have such a great group of friends who support you with this kind of thing.
